A Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) is a document that provides health and safety information about products,
substances or chemicals that are classified as hazardous substances or dangerous goods.

MSDSs provide information on:
• the manufacturer or importing supplier
• the product (e.g. its name, ingredients, and properties)
• how the product can affect people’s health
• precautions for using or storing it safely

Keeping copies of safety data sheets

Service stations must keep copies of SDS for chemicals they use and they must be readily accessible for all workers involved in using, handling, or storing the chemical at the workplace, emergency service workers, and anyone else who may be exposed to the chemical.

Also, you need to keep a manifest of hazardous chemicals. Your manifest must include the type, quantity and location of the chemicals, a site plan and contact details for emergency services.
